Who Kiled the Electric car

Recently there has been a big hype about hybrid cars  and how they will be the future method of transportation  however during the 90's General motors developed a functional electric car called the EV1 this was considered to be the car of the future with many talented individuals working on the EV project to develop this beautiful car.

The EV1 was far more efficient and better than its counterpart a car that operates on petroleum, it was considered to be smoother and quieter while also helping the environment as it does ot run on a fossil fuel. As the Ev1 was gaining popularity exponentially there were some that was against the EV1. Major oil companies fearing they may lose demand for oil feared the EV1 and was against this; however majority of the population was for the EV1.

As designers we must be wary of what affects out pproducts have on the environment as we are responsible for our own designs. It also shows how without a demand from the consumers a product will be scrapped even if it's an innovative design such as the EV1 and without demand the product will not sell and eventually be worthless.
